Brad will be presenting at Capistrano Unified School District on August 27th. He will demonstrate how to incorporate Common Core strategies in our instruction. Then he’s off to Atlanta, Georgia on September 17th.
We are also increasing our library of staff-development DVD’s with our upcoming title, “Solving Linear Equations”. This DVD provides over an hour of instruction and an accompanying handout of over 70 pages of activities. We demonstrate how to use our unique instructional strategy, Conceptual Layering, to help students transition from simple visual models of one-step equations to solving multi-step linear equations incorporating distribution and combining like terms.
This is an early topic in most textbooks and would make a helpful addition to your beginning instruction this year. You might also be interested in our DVD, “Fast Facts and Fractions” that shows how to help students master their multiplication facts and conquer all fraction operations. “Integer Strategies” is another popular title that helps students succeed with a challenging topic.
